Bioenergetics
Bioenergetics

Background

Bioenergetics is a type of therapy that uses breathing exercises, meditation, and physical exercises to treat mental health disorders and other conditions.

Bioenergetics was developed in the 1950s. Practitioners of bioenergetics believe that repressed negative emotions can cause mental and physical illness. They believe that they can cure disease by unblocking repressed emotions and releasing negative energies. However, it has not been evaluated in clinical research.

Bioenergetics has been used for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress, sexual problems that prevent satisfaction during sexual activity, and other purposes, but there is no good scientific evidence to support any use.
There isn't enough reliable information to know if bioenergetics is safe or if there are any safety concerns.
