Contaminant Accumulation

Fish absorb pollutants like heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium) and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from their polluted environments. Contaminants bioaccumulate in fish tissues, particularly at the top of the food chain, leading to higher concentrations in the fish that are used to produce fish oil.

High levels of toxins such as heavy metals that have no biological role in the body can lead to toxicity and health issues as they accumulate over time.

Purification

Crude fish oil may contain significant levels of pollutants, and if the oil is not refined, these contaminants are passed on to the final supplement

Pollutants and improper processing can lead to oxidation, a process that degrades the oil, reduces its effectiveness, and can result in a strong fishy taste and smell.

Bioclinic Naturals – setting the industry standards

All Bioclinic Naturals products are independently third-party tested by ISURA® - an independent, non-profit analytical testing and certification organisation which verifies there are no contaminants present in supplements. ISURA® certification means higher-quality products and informed choices for practitioners.

ISURA® - testing for toxins

ISURA® test for over 800 contaminants including: toxic heavy metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants (dioxins, PCBs, PAHs), solvent residues and microbiological contaminants. The standards for ISURA®’s certification for natural health products are among the world’s highest.

Bioclinic Naturals® Fish Oils

This highly-potent fish oil provides 1250 mg of triglycerides with EPA and DHA in a 3:2 ratio. It uses low-excipient, Enteripure® enteric softgel capsules to ensure minimal fishy reflux. Opti Pure EPA/DHA 1250 is ultra-pure and exceeds international standards for toxin and heavy metal testing, delivering a clean, purified, high-quality and high-dose fish oil supplement you can trust.

  • High degree of purity, freshness and low oxidation
  • Exceeds international toxin standards for fish oil quality, purity and oxidation (GOED, IFOS, EU legislation)
  • Independently 3rd-party tested for heavy metals, PCBs, glyphosates, histamine, GMOs, radioactive isotopes and plasticisers
  • Eco-friendly processing technology with no chemical reagents
  • Purified with molecular distillation and urea fractionation and filtered to 1μm for removal of all microplastics
  • Uses Enteripure® enteric softgel capsules for targeted delivery, with minimal use of excipients. Delayed disintegration, with fish oil delivered to the small intestine for better absorption and minimal fishy aftertaste or reflux.
  • Has both Friends of the Sea® and MarinTrust (IFFO-RS) Certification. Responsibly sourced from small fish (anchovy, sardine and mackerel).
  • Eco-friendly fishing practices, with no by-catch of endangered species or impact on seabed. Full traceability and zero carbon footprint.

Opti EPA/DHA Plus SPM

Opti EPA/DHA Plus SPM is a highly concentrated fish oil supplement providing the omega-3 fatty acids EPA, DHA and DPA, as well as being standardised to provide specialised pro-resolving mediators (SPMs). The role of these SPMs, collectively, is to help facilitate immunoresolution, a process by which inflammation is resolved and to support a return to a homeostatic state. The standardisation of these mediators in fish oil supports their actions further by eliminating limiting factors that may arise by relying on them being present in high enough doses for effect in ordinary fish oil.

  • Standardised to provide 45.5 mcg of total pro-resolving mediators per capsule. Specialised pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) are bioactive lipid mediators that act endogenously to promote resolution of inflammatory processes.
  • Certified as sustainable, wild-caught small, cold-water fish species by Friends of the Sea®.
  • Features high-quality concentrated fish omega-3 triglycerides, with extraction being conducted using patented advanced technology to achieve high levels of purity without use of chemical solvents, oxygen or excessive heat.
  • Exceeds international toxin limit standards for fish oil quality, purity and oxidation.
  • Independently 3rd-party batch tested for over 800 environmental chemicals and toxins.
  • Features Enteripure®, an enteric softgel formula for advanced targeted delivery. The softgel casing prevents breakdown in the stomach, ensuring minimal fishy aftertaste.
